Doc status by topic

MDN contains thousands of documents. In order to maintain them, we classify them into projects by topic and locale, and coordinate the work to be done on each using a Documentation Status page.

Every such page gives the following information:

  • The scope of the project.
  • An overview of the current status, using green, orange, and red colors and simple metrics. These track coverage, errors, progress, and whether review is needed.
  • A list of pages to create and fix, and basic information on how to do so.
  • Information about who drives each project and how to get in touch with them. The drivers can be staff members, volunteers, or a mix of both.
  • Ideas about how to improve this area of the MDN in the future.
  • The localization status of each project

The goals of these pages are to:

  • Have more transparency about the status of a specific area of the MDN and to track progress.
  • Allow people to more easily find tasks to perform.
  • Allow people to take responsibility for projects they are interested in and to provide the tools to facilitate documentation management.

Anyone is free to add new documentation and to contribute to any of the listed tasks. Contributors may also contact project drivers for more information.
